This article is all about Business Backpack usage.
The travel bag you use on business trips, or vacations, can really make or break your trip. If you choose a bag too small, you’re forced to downgrade what you take with you, let’s say, on the airplane. Ideally you find a good middle ground between comfort and storage space; if you have a huge 17 inch laptop like me, you need a big Business Backpack. You also need it to be comfortable, so that it doesn’t leave you with back and neck problems after lugging it around all over the world. I have found a few good brands and models, but here are the basics of what you want;
- Utility pockets; places to store passports, money, batteries, coins, pens, and other small objects that you don’t want in your pockets as you clear security.
- Cargo pockets; pockets that can hold your chargers, portfolios, backup toiletries etc. Basically anything that’s a small comfort item.
- Protected electronics pocket; someplace you can put your laptop or iPad that is padded, and protected from shock if you happen to drop it.
- Side pockets; places to put sunglass cases, water bottles, and anything else. Ideally they’re mesh, with an elastic band to hold things in. Best if there’s one on each side.
- Utility loops; these are usually found chest level (when you’re wearing your backpack) and can hold your keys on a hook or carabiner. I like to have one on each strap.
- The all important secret pocket. Maybe not such a huge secret, but something with a zipper cover that makes it hard for people to see, or try to open.
Basically, it all boils down to what you want to take with you (we’re assuming this is a carry on) on the plane, and through security. You don’t want a massive camping rucksack if you just have work related items, and you don’t want a tiny backpack if you have lots of important things that you don’t want to give up. Do your homework, read reviews, and go to a store to try some out!
